VMware was happy to host Tech Field Day Extra at VMworld 2019.  We covered lots of great content.  But by far the biggest news of the week for vSphere fans was the announcement of Project Pacific, a rearchitecture of vSphere with Kubernetes.  Attendees were eager to learn more about Project Pacific and Tech Field Day provided a great opportunity to dig into the specifics of what we’re doing.

Tech Field Day has a live stream, so folks who weren’t attending VMworld could tune in and learn about Pacific.  But luckily, in case you missed the livestream, they also post all their content on YouTube.

Motivation for Project Pacific

Jared Rosoff walks through the motivation behind Project Pacific and how we can use Kubernetes not just as a container orchestrator, but as an infrastructure interface.

 Introduction to Project Pacific

Jared continues with an introduction to Project Pacific itself, discussing how exactly is Kubernetes integrated into vSphere and what that means for VI Admins and Developers and workload management more generally.

 Project Pacific Architecture Deep Dive

With the basics of Project Pacific covered, Mike West takes over to go into a lot more technical detail on both Kubernetes and Project Pacific.

 Additional Information on Project Pacific

In addition to the above videos, we’ve also posted a series of blogs covered Project Pacific in more detail:

We’ll continue to post additional blogs in the coming weeks, so please watch the vSphere Blog for them!
