With VMworld Europe just around the corner, we are excited to announce that our valued partner Check Point’s product CloudGuard has met all the certification requirements for NSX-T Data Center North-South service insertion! This is the first such certification following the recent release of version 2.3. It is particularly exciting given that NSX-T is designed to connect and protect workloads running in multiple environments like public clouds and on-premises data centers, and CloudGuard for North-South traffic works at the point of connection between these networks.

Enhancing security gateway capabilities with Check Point’s CloudGuard for traffic moving between virtual machines and external networks secures your assets and data in the cloud against even the most sophisticated threats, with multi-layered protections including: Firewall, IPS, Application Control, IPsec VPN, Antivirus, Anti-Bot, and award-winning SandBlast Threat Emulation and Threat Extraction technologies.

NSX-T Data Center was designed with the concept of service insertion top of mind, enabling users with specific needs to seamlessly add third party applications at various points throughout the network. Having a robust ecosystem of partners is key to providing maximum flexibility for NSX-T Data Center, enabling you to add partner functionality that is tailored to your unique requirements without degrading performance elsewhere in the SDDC. Partner applications are put through a rigorous certification process in order to ensure the highest level of interoperability and reliability.

Protect Against Advanced Threats at the Edge

Check Point CloudGuard enables companies to realize the full potential of the SDDC while providing protection against potential vulnerabilities, malware, and other sophisticated threats. The joint solution for NSX-T Data Center effectively addresses one of the key challenges of modern data center networks, securing workloads at the perimeter with Check Point’s industry leading edge firewall.

Check Point’s unified security management platform enables the registration of services through NSX Manager, which in turn automates the provisioning and plumbing of the partner services along with NSX Edge Services. The service insertion architecture enables selective redirection of traffic to partner services across the overlay network. In the NSX-T 2.3 release, we provide service insertion at the boundary of Logical Routers for North-South traffic traversing a logical router. This allows additional security controls such as those offered by Check Point Cloudguard to be applied to select traffic in between different tenants or traffic coming into the Data Center.
