The Boston Consulting Group expects spending on IoT in the retail sector to reach $12.9b in 2020, quadruple the figure for 2015. As the industry looks to maximize profits and market share in an interconnected, competitive environment IoT continues to take center stage. Challenges for these organizations include meeting the changing demands of customers, maneuvering through a consolidated market, and executing strategies to grow profitability. IoT allows these retailers to receive customer, product, and device information which when acted upon allow their organization to reach their retail objectives.

Using VMware IoT Solutions, Avanti Kenjalkar, Product Marketing Manager for the Internet of Things at VMware, outlines how one might apply specific IoT use cases in a retail environment.
