VMware Update Manager Depot (vibsdepot) of HP changed to new URL

HP has changed the vibsdepot URL to the new hpe.com Domain. Effect: If you don´t change the URL to the new one, VMware Update Manager will get troubles downloading patches from the HP repository.   The new URL is: http://vibsdepot.hpe.com/index.xml (all downloads) and http://vibsdepot.hpe.com/index-drv.xml (drivers only)

ALERT: VMware ESXi 6.0U1 on HP GEN9 Servers fails to detect local disks

VMware and HP has published a KB/Advisory about HP GEN9 Systems running on ESXi 6.0U1. After upgrading to ESXi 6.0 UPDATE1 the host cannot detect local disks anymore. KB: kb.vmware.com/kb/2120539   You can workaround this issue with a manual driver downgrade. HP will release a fixed driver asap. I will inform you.

VMware releases public beta of Virtual Volumes

Besides releasing the public beta 2 for vSphere 6.0 today, VMware also released a beta for Virtual Volumes (VVOLs). Virtual Volumes allows a Virtual Machine and its disk to become a unit of storage management for a storage system by encapsulating virtual disks and virtual machine files. These files are stored natively on the storage system. VVOLs uses the vSphere APIs for Storage Awareness (VASA) which makes the storage system aware of the virtual volumes and how they relate to the virtual machines. Read more […]
